Designed by Piccola Tiny Homes, the Minuet isn’t intended for a family, it is designed for a single professional, and is equipped with a clever storage-packed layout that maximizes available space incredibly. It features a length of 24 feet and is based on a double-axle trailer. It has a finish of cedar tongue, and groove siding, topped with metal accenting and a standing seam metal roof with a skylight. A small storage box is also placed outside.

Designer: Piccola Tiny Homes

The interior of the home measures around 196 sq ft, and it is equipped with premium decor including stone floors, drywall walls and a wooden ceiling. The layout is pretty open and spacious, and everything has been arranged on one floor. The rooms are arranged in a single shared space, creating an ambience that is cozy and quite homely.

The living room includes a sofa with loads of integrated storage, as well as a compact pull-out table for dining. It also contains a TV on a swivel mount, and a little home office amped with shelving and a drop-down desk. The bedroom is adjacent to the living room, and it includes a raised queen-sized bed with more storage!

The home also includes a kitchen which is pretty well-proportioned and designed cleverly. The kitchen is equipped with a combination microwave, air fryer, and a convection oven. It also holds a two-burner induction range and sink, as well as a fridge/freezer and some cabinetry.

You can enter the bathroom through the kitchen with the help of a sliding door. The bathroom features a vanity sink with a medicine cabinet, a washer/dryer, a shower, a flushing toilet, and a big wardrobe. The Minuet may not be the grandest or most extravagant tiny home out there, but it is a compact, comfortable, and well-equipped living space for a bachelor/bachelorette kickstarting their living-alone adventure. The home has a sense of openness to it and a vibe that is warm and organic. It would make a homely home for someone planning to buy their first home.

Do you know what a ‘nacelle’ is? It is a streamlined container that sits on top of a wind turbine and holds various components like the generator and gearbox. Wind turbines are known for being pretty huge, but a nacelle is big enough to live in! European energy company Vattenfall teamed with Superuse Studios intending to repurpose decommissioned turbines. They’ve explored these old machines, creating a tiny home inside a nacelle. The tiny home is pretty cute and cozy and is being displayed at the Dutch Design Week 2020 in Eindhoven this month.

Designer: Vattenfall x Superuse Studios

They chose a nacelle from a Vestas V80 2-MW turbine that was running at the Austria Gols wind farm for almost twenty years. It was brought to the ground from its height of 328 ft. The nacelle is 13 ft wide, 32 ft long, and 10 ft high. It includes almost 376 sq ft of living space and is one of the smaller nacelles found today. If they pick a nacelle from a newer turbine, it will be larger, providing more living space. Superuse teamed up with a bunch of partner firms to outfit Nestle with electricity, plumbing, and insulation.

The shell is built from glass fiber-reinforced plastics, which makes it durable but not the most recyclable material, hence repurposing it was a good move. The roof is topped with four solar panels that provide 1,800-W peak power, which is sufficient for the home. The little house also includes a solar-powered water boiler for showering and washing, as well as a heat pump for the AC. A decentralized ventilation system with wall-mounted panels and an EV charging point has been integrated as well.

The interior is warm and wooden, equipped with a bathroom, kitchenette, and a combined sleeping and living area. For the Dutch Design Week 2024, the home has been incorporated with second-hand furniture, although it is sustainably produced. A table built from recycled material obtained from an old wind turbine blade is included in the space as well.

Jos de Krieger, partner at Superuse said. “At least ten thousand of this generation of nacelles are available, spread around the world. Most of them have yet to be decommissioned. This offers perspective and a challenge for owners and decommissioners. If such a complex structure as a house is possible, then numerous simpler solutions are also feasible and scalable.”

Tiny homes are meant to be tiny, and we’ve seen a whole bunch of truly compact homes over the years, but we’ve finally come across the ‘world’s smallest tiny home’. Designed by Levi Kelly, this super tiny home occupies around 19.4 sq ft. It is based on a single-axle trailer that was picked up from a truck. It is equipped with jacks for support and stability when not on the move. The home is extraordinarily compact and displays a pretty clever space-saving design. The tiny home is made up of a stick frame structure, and a painted cedar exterior, topped with roof shingles.

Designer: Levi Kelly

The interior of the home includes one room, and it is quite snug and comfortable. The entrance leads you to a bench seating area that can hold three people. It is equipped with integrated storage and an air-conditioning heating and cooling unit. The kitchen is quite simple with water tanks for freshwater and greywater, a filter and a pump system, as well as a water heater. It also includes a mini-fridge for drinks or food items. An electric cooktop is accommodated in a drawer when not in use. The sink features a folding tap, and a cutting board insert covers it when not in use. These little details make for excellent space-saving solutions in such a compact home.

The bedroom comprises a fold-down bed which is a bit uncomfortable to access. It is equipped with hooks to hold it up in the ceiling, but the resident will need to step on the kitchen countertop and climb onto the bed, which isn’t the most comfortable feat. The bathroom is divided into two sections – the front-facing wall near the entrance contains the outdoor shower, while the back wall features a storage box with a small camping-style toilet. The box could be taken into the home if privacy was needed.

The world’s smallest tiny home is powered by two roof-based solar panels that are connected to a battery to provide juice through the night. The budget for this tiny home was US$5,000, making it pretty economical. The designer owned the trailer, and did all the work himself, ensuring costs were kept low.

In this tiny home-populated world, Portugal’s Madeiguincho has designed something different and unique with its wooden model – the Atlanta. Madeiguincho is known for its wooden tiny homes that showcase the expertise of its experienced carpenters, and Atlanta follows suit with this legacy. The Atlanta tiny home is designed for a family of four, allowing them to move away from the noise of the city, and spend some time in nature. It features a length of 23 feet, with a porch area that extends the living space. The porch area has a ramp for access. The home is equipped with generous glazing and some shutters. Drop-down tables have been incorporated outside the kitchen to allow residents to dine outside under the stars.

Designer: Madeiguincho

As you enter the home, you are welcomed by a space finished with timber and play. The interior is cozy, light-filled, and quite appealing. You enter the living room through double glass doors, and this space includes a sofa, a tiny wood-burning stove for the winter, and a ceiling fan for the summer. The kitchen is located nearby, and it includes a breakfast bar for two, cabinetry, and plenty of shelving. A two-burner propane-powered stove and sink have also been integrated. We cant see a fridge/freezer and an over, but we’re sure they have been incorporated somewhere, as this is intended to be a full-time home for a family.

The kitchen leads to the bathroom which is equipped with a sink, shower, a composting toilet, as well as a glass door that allows access into the home. Curtains have been added for privacy. This second entrance isn’t very usual, but Madeiguincho has installed second entrances in their bathrooms before too. The other end of the home includes the bathroom, and it seems cozy with a double bed and built-in storage.

The Atlantica includes two other loft-style bedrooms. One bedroom is placed above the bathroom and can be entered through a fixed wooden ladder. This bedroom is topped with a skylight and can accommodate a double bed. The second loft-style bedroom is perched above the ground-floor master bedroom and can be accessed through a removable ladder. This space also includes a double bed, but no skylight. Although, both bedrooms are incorporated with porthole-style windows. The lovely little tiny home is tucked away somewhere in rural Portugal, in a pine forest. It is powered by a roof-based solar panel array that is attached to batteries.

Movable Roots designed the Elmore, a 42-foot-long and 8-ft-6-inch-wide customized bumper-pull RV. It is intended to be a home away from home. The tiny house features two entrances, one with a screened-off porch with the ability to accommodate a couple of patio chairs. As you enter the house, you are welcomed by the kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a stacking washer/dryer combo, next to a fridge with a bottom pull-out freezer. Movable Roots tried to utilize the space available completely, ensuring no area was left unused. Even the stair leading to the loft placed above the kitchen is integrated with custom drawers.

Designer: Movable Roots

The opposite wall of the kitchen is equipped with a full-size sink and loads of counter space. Windows adorn the space, which may be difficult to clean and maintain, but they do allow a lot of natural light into the space. The windows are openable, allowing fresh air into the space, and refreshing the interior environment. The living room isn’t the largest, but it can fit a L-shaped couch. It is comfortable and cozy, and a mini-split system is perched on a well-insulated wall, ensuring that the home’s temperature can be regulated irrespective of the temperature outside.

An interestingly-designed staircase leads you to one of the lofts in the tiny home. It is placed at the front and is smaller than the other bedroom, and it is also more easily accessible. The bedroom is equipped with clever in-wall storage which saves quite a bit of space and adds a visually appealing element to the room. A custom sliding barn door offers privacy to the room. The second rear loft is above the room, and can only be entered via a custom wooden ladder. It is quite huge and can hold three twin-sized beds. While the front loft can accommodate a queen bed.

The home includes four mini-split systems in total, and they are all plumbed to a single condenser placed at the rear of the RV. A water hose connection offers fresh water, and the home is powered by an RV-style 50-amp service. The custom-built RV occupies around 500 sq ft and can sleep seven people, and it is priced at around US$225,000.

Mint Tiny House Company is usually known for its large tiny home models, but with the Loft Ruby Edition, they’ve created a home with a compact and manageable size. Despite being on the smaller side, the home can easily sleep up to six people. The home is based on a triple-axle trailer, and it features a length of 34 feet, which is the typical size of tiny homes in North America. The home features a finishing in board and batten engineered wood siding, and is accentuated by a metal roof. Generous glazing ensures that natural light streams into the home throughout the day. The interior of the home occupies around 386 sq ft, most of which is populated by an open living area that contains the living room, kitchen, and dining area.

Designer: Mint Tiny House Company

The living room is quite small yet cozy, and it includes a sofa, a small coffee table, and a wall-mounted TV. Storage has been integrated into the staircase, which is a nifty feature. The kitchen is closely located, and it includes a farmhouse-style sink with a three-burner propane-powered stove, an oven, a fridge/freezer, a microwave, a washer/dryer, plenty of cabinetry, and a big pantry area. You can enter the bathroom via a sliding door from the kitchen, and it is quite spacious for a tiny home. Modern Tiny Living recently designed the Cerceaux tiny home, and it packs a punch with its unique storage-packed interior, and an impressive “Swiss Army Knife” living room. It features a length of 20 feet, but its innovative and flexible layout truly makes it stand apart. It is based on a double-axle trailer and features a finish in engineered wood. The wood finishing is topped by a steel roof, and complemented by an exterior storage box. It is designed to be a good home for the weekend, but may not be a great full-time residence since it has a compact footprint.

Designer: Modern Tiny Living

As you enter the home, you are welcomed by a living area or the ‘MTL Social Area’. This section is raised and can seat around six people, in a U shape. It also contains generous glazing, ensuring the space is quite light-filled. Since this space is raised, it includes a load of storage areas, such as pull-out drawers and bookshelves. The sofa can be converted into a bed for the guests if they decide to sleep over. The kitchen is located nearby, and it contains a breakfast bar for two people, a propane-powered four-burner cooktop with an electric oven, a steel sink, a washer/dryer, and a fridge/freezer. It is also equipped with loads of cabinetry, and in-ceiling drop-down cabinets which are suitable for spices. The bathroom is located next to the kitchen and can be entered via a sliding barn-style door. The bathroom is pretty small, and it includes a composting toilet, shower, and sink.

The Cerceaux tiny home only contains one bedroom, which can be accessed through a storage-integrated staircase. This bedroom is much like the bedrooms typically seen in tiny homes. It features a loft-like style, and a low ceiling, as well as a double bed, and space for more storage. The home is powered by a roof-based solar panel and battery setup, making it an excellent fit for some off-the-gird adventures. At the moment, we aren’t aware of the tiny home’s pricing.

Named the E9 tiny home, this eco-friendly smart home is designed by Massimo Modular and can be tucked away anywhere in just two hours. It is unlike your conventional tiny homes since it has a rather futuristic vibe and an innovative see-through aesthetic. The home is a far cry from the traditional little homes we usually see, as it looks right out of a science fiction movie. The home occupies 409 square feet, in a 37.7 -ft-long by 10.8 ft-wide footprint. It is 10.5 ft tall and ensures no one feels cramped or stuffy in the home, no matter how tall they are.

Designer: Massimo Modular

As you enter the front door, you are welcomed by a living room area. The front door has a smart lock, and the living room features a classy, minimal layout with integrated LED strip lights on the ceiling. The ceiling also incorporates a skylight, complemented by the “environmental wood flooring”.  The living room leads outdoors to a small deck patio that can accommodate a chair or two. The home is equipped with floor-to-ceiling insulated 270-degree panoramic double-glazed windows, which provide surreal views of the surroundings. The E9 is equipped with automatic curtains to ensure you have your privacy. The curtains are integrated into an all-in-one smart control system that you can manage through your smartphone.

The smart home also features an underfloor heating system to keep your toes warm. The kitchen is well-designed with a two-burner induction stovetop and a single-bin-style sink. An island segregates the kitchen from the living section, so you have enough space for cooking and meal prep. The bathroom is a dry bath with a walk-in shower and a full-size toilet. Water is heated by a water heater, while all the wastewater is sent to a sewer joint. As you move towards the bedroom, you are impressed by the panoramic 270-degree views. The room has sufficient storage, and space for a standard-sized queen bed.

The E9 smart home has a modular design, that ensures it is ready to be transported and placed within a few hours. There is also a 70-year service life. The home is created to withstand 8.0 earthquakes and Category 1 hurricanes. It has a water/sewer connection in the exterior and is also pre-wired for HVAC. It is priced at US$95,995.00.

]]>

A poignant drawback of space-saving tiny homes is that we often need to use stairs or a ladder to access the bed or sleeping area. Many people often don’t want to go through this process, and hence many designers are now creating tiny homes with all the rooms positioned on one floor. The Moulinsart is one such example, and it features an open layout that is suitable for around two people. It is designed by Baluchon and features a length of 23 feet, and is based on a double-axle trailer. It features a red cedar finish, topped with a metal roof, and powered by a standard RV-style hookup.

Designer: Baluchon

Since the tiny home features only a single story and not two floors, there is not much space to work with. To ensure space is maximized, Baluchon designed a simple and compact layout that provides sufficient space. However, the layout does make the home more of a vacation house than a full-time residence. As you enter the front door, you are welcomed by a pretty simple kitchen. It includes an oven, a sink, storage space, cabinetry, a propane-powered two-burner stove, and a ventilated section for fruits and vegetables. There isn’t any fridge visible, but they may have tucked it away in some cabinetry. A dining table that can seat two people is added as well.

The living room and the bedroom form one central section. This space is equipped with a small wood-burning stove to offer warmth. A desk area and shelving have been incorporated as well. The space also includes a sofa bed with integrated storage, and this is the only bed in the entire home. Generous glazing marks this living area, and hence light flows in throughout the day. The other end of the home holds the bathroom, which contains a shower and a toilet.

The Moulinsart is a cozy and well-furnished home for anyone who wants easy access to their beds. It also seems like a safe and comfortable space for kids and the elderly, as there is no risk of them tripping on the stairs/ladder and hurting themselves. The home is quite compact for a tiny house, but the layout is well-designed albeit simple, and does have all the essential amenities one could need for a comfortable stay. We are unsure of the home’s pricing, but Baluchon’s tiny homes are usually priced at US$95,000.

Adorably named the Elsie, this well-designed and well-proportioned tiny house boasts a spacious interior that is perfect for a small family to live comfortably. It is amped with loads of storage space, and a novel loft bedroom with a lowered standing platform, that ensures the residents don’t need to struggle and crawl into bed. It is designed by Indigo River Tiny Homes and features a length of 34 feet. It is founded on a triple-axle trailer and showcases a finishing of cedar. It is also equipped with two exterior storage areas.

Designer: Indigo River Tiny Homes

The home is pretty open and makes the most of the compact space available. You can enter the house through two French doors which lead to the kitchen. The kitchen includes an oven with an induction stove, a sink, a fridge/freezer, and plenty of storage space. There is also cabinetry, a pull-out pantry, and a small dining table. The living room is adjacent to the kitchen, and it includes a sofa bed, an entertainment center as well as a TV. The other side of the tiny home includes a bathroom with a flushing toilet, a vanity sink, a shower, and some more storage space.

The Elsie is equipped with two bedrooms, both are located upstairs, and placed on opposite ends of the home to ensure privacy. The main bedroom can be accessed by a storage-integrated staircase from the living room. This is placed on a lowered platform, which allows the owners to stand upright while getting into bed or getting dressed. This makes quite a difference and offers much comfort to the residents.

The second bedroom is a typical loft-style bedroom you find in most tiny homes, and it can be entered through a storage-integrated staircase above the bathroom. This bedroom doesn’t include a lowered platform. The Elsie is powered via a standard RV-style hookup, although off-the-grid options are available. Currently, we are unaware of the pricing of the tiny home.
